Next New Thing

Years ago I was on a call with a tech support engineer from India and his accent was so strong that the call became almost impossible. We were missing each other due to barriers in language. We decided to do a chat session which helped the process quite-a-bit. In the future I see the next "new thing" in technology as well s new media will be a "real-time language translator". This will tear down all communications barriers between nations. Whether you're on chat, blog, social media, email, etc. you will be able to communicate in your native language with anyone around the world and have that seamlessly translate to the native language of your speaker. You will be able to indicate your language of choice and have direct communications in that language for translated communications seamlessly. This will foster collaboration in ways we've never seen before. Think about the impact in the scientific and medical communities alone. Scientists and medical professionals will be able to communicate in real-time without the barrier of language. Applications will be able to be developed  and utilized in ways like never before because language will no longer be a concern for multinational companies or industries. We will truly become a global community in ways we can't event imagine!

What are your thoughts?
